Ham n Egg Corner, New York 1950s

£20.00

This visual feast of a menu is from the Ham n Egg Corner, a restaurant in the 1950s that served customers on Broadway and 51st street in New York and is now closed. There was another outpost in Hollywood, California, on Vine Street. Inventive, charming and clever, it’s everything we love about vintage menu art. The graphics feature cute pigs(including one with wings, so pigs really do fly) and busy and efficient chickens, clucking their way to the plate. Specials are given their own vignettes: ham n eggs: the bite that’s rite mornin, noon and night. The owner was kitchenware distributor and restaurant designer I Arthur Ganger who operated another whimsical New York restaurant the "Bird in Hand" which specialized in fried chicken.
