Hotel New Yorker, Brooklyn Bridge, New York 1941
One of five iconic New York views celebrating four bridges (George Washington Bridge, Bronx Whitestone Bridge, Tri Boro Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge) and the recently completed La Guardia Airport that the Hotel New Yorker produced as menu covers in 1941. The engraving was done by Dr. Joseph Guttman. Dr Joseph Guttman founded the Steelograph engraving company. came to the United States from Europe and created the company in the 1920s. Steelograph specialized in steel engraving, an intaglio process in which the design is cut into a hard steel plate that yields sharp impressions even in large editions.
