The Igloo was an iconic Seattle diner from the 1940's and, like the Twin Tepees, was one of the many roadside attractions along Highway 99. Before I-5 was constructed, Highway 99 was the main roadway from Everett to Tacoma and many unique buildings and structures sprang up along this famous highway in an effort to grab the attention of passing motorists and lure them in for business. Built in the shape of two igloos, and with an eskimo theme inside, this well-known restaurant even offered drive-up carhop service.
