Inversnaid Hotel, Loch Lomond, 1880s

£20.00

Located on the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland, the Inversnaid Hotel still exists and their facilities are much improved from what was offered on this tariff card and menu from the 1880s. Guests could have cheap accommodation or pay for extras such as a bath – with hot or cold water, a coal fire and even gas lights since this preceded electricity. Breakfast, luncheon, dinner and tea – the name for a Scottish meal consumed early in the evening - cost more if you asked for meat. The hotel even had room service - for an extra charge of sixpence. We have been able to date this menu because of the message written in pencil which says that the beautiful steamship on the front was The Empress, brought into service on Loch Lomond in 1888.

Each print is accompanied by a copy of the interior menu where available.

We make our prints with archival-quality fine art paper, using professional pigment inks. Properly framed or stored, our prints will last 70+ years without fading or discolouring.
